PRIVACY POLICY

Privacy policy for Citizen Science Fish Trek, respectively the website www.Fish-Trek.eu

Scope

This privacy statement informs users about the nature, scope and purpose of the collection and use of personal data by the responsible provider Institut für angewandte Ökologie GmbH (contact: see imprint) on this website or the domain https://www.Fish-Trek.eu, as well as on any subdomains that may arise. The legal basis for data protection can be found in the German Data Protection Regulation (DS-GVO), the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the German Telemedia Act (TMG).

Access data / server log files

The provider or his web space provider collects data, so-called server log files, about each access to the website. This access data includes the name of the website accessed, file, date and time of access, amount of data transferred, notification of successful access, browser type and version, the user’s operating system, IP address and the requesting provider. The provider uses this log data only for statistical analysis for the purpose of operation, security and optimization of the offer. However, the provider reserves the right to check the log data retrospectively if there is a justified suspicion of unlawful use on the basis of concrete indications.

Handling of personal data

Personal data are information that can be used to identify a person, i.e. information that can be traced back to a person. Personal data is collected and used exclusively with regard to the goals of the Fish Trek project. The following groups of persons are affected by this:

    • Guests, i.e. visitors to the website: access data from these persons is stored as described above. The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 para. 1, p. 1 lit. f (Legitimate Interest: Statistical Knowledge) DSGVO.

    • Registered markers: When a marker registers via the website, he is assigned a personal authorization code. This allows him to load his own master data about individually tagged fish into the Fish Trek database, to manage it and, if necessary, to edit it subsequently. When registering, a marker has the explicit possibility to agree or refuse the publication of his personal data, i.e. name, affiliation to a company or institution, address as well as contact data such as e-mail address and telephone. Legal bases for data processing are Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. a (consent) or lit. f (legitimate interest: research) DSGVO.

    • Finders: People who have found an individually tagged fish or tag can enter the ID code for the purpose of searching for the origin of the individual on the website, whereby only the name of the finder is stored. However, if payment of the finder’s reward is requested, the following personal data will be required: First and last name, address, BIC and IBAN of the bank account and, in case of queries, e-mail address and/or telephone number. This personal data is stored separately from the information on the reported fish and automatically deleted after two months. The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. a (consent) or lit. f (legitimate interest: research) DS-GVO.

Personal data of registered markers and finders may be disclosed to persons, institutions and other national and international organizations in the context of the project as well as for their evidence or funding, or for further research purposes in plain text or in a pseudo-anonymized form. The individuals, institutions and other organizations receiving the personal data may potentially be located in an EU third country. In any case, a transfer of data will only take place to the extent permitted by law and in compliance with the legal requirements, in particular from Art. 44 et seq. DS-GVO.
